You bring the film to life, I help you carry the work.

Like you, I’m a filmmaker. And like you, I know that the conception, incubation, and birth of a film is often a painful and complicated process.

I first started my career as a video journalist. I spent years reporting on conflict, power, and politics before the narrative structure of the News started to feel too restricting for the world I was living and witnessing. I took time away from the field and went back to school, learning about poetic documentary, interactive forms, and how to shape scenes that make audiences feel, as well as think.

Over the past twenty years I directed dozens of shorts, five feature documentaries, and even a few new media projects. Teaching Film Production, Cinema Studies, and Narrative Construction at Humber College, York University, and TMU, I’ve mentored hundreds of students starting out on their very first projects.

While I absolutely love crafting my own films, I am equally passionate about helping other filmmakers find their voice, pull out stories from ideas, and materialize them from the page to the screen.

While the birth of your film might be harder this time, more complex than your last one or perhaps it’s your very first one, your filmmaking should also be a joyful process that empowers and brings to life vital stories that help your audiences understand themselves and their worlds.

Whether you need help with establishing accountable routines around your filmmaking, clarifying your grant writing, workshopping your aesthetic approach, storyboarding your scenes, or pulling your edit out of the weeds, I’m here to help shepherd you along. I’ve developed, shot, edited, and production-managed films of all sizes. I helped filmmakers finish their films, grow their distribution from prestigious festivals like TIFF, Sundance, and Berlinale to streaming and broadcast, all while honourably representing the communities who entrusted them with their stories in the first place.
